Essay Editing Services
Got a draft already? We clean up grammar, style, and structure. You get a sharper paper — and if you want, a short note on what we changed.
What editing includes
- Grammar, spelling, punctuation
- Style and clarity (word choice, sentence flow)
- Structure (paragraphs, logic, transitions)
- Optional: feedback summary so you know what we changed
Levels of editing
Standard editing covers grammar, spelling, punctuation, and basic style (word choice, sentence clarity). Heavy editing adds structure: we tighten paragraphs, improve flow, and suggest reorganizing sections if needed. Tell us your deadline and we’ll match it — often 24–48 hours for shorter papers. Need only surface errors fixed? Choose proofreading instead.
Editing vs proofreading
Editing goes deeper: we improve style and structure. Proofreading is grammar and typos only. Pick what you need on the order form.
How it works
Upload your draft on the order form and select “Editing.” Set the deadline. We’ll return a cleaned-up version and, if you asked for it, a short summary of changes. Revisions to the editing itself are free if we missed something. For full writing from scratch, use our essay writing or write my essay service.
When to choose editing instead of a full rewrite
You’ve written it and the ideas are there but the writing’s a mess — that’s when editing makes sense. We fix grammar, flow, wordiness, structure (order of paragraphs, transitions). You get your draft back, cleaned up. If the content’s wrong or the teacher wants a different approach, you need a full essay — write my essay or essay help.
What we don’t change
Your thesis and main ideas stay unless you ask us to change them. We don’t add new arguments or research — just clarity, style, structure. Need a shorter draft? Say “reduce to 1500 words” (or whatever) in the instructions and we’ll trim. Want a note on what we changed and why? Ask for it in the instructions and we’ll add a short summary.
One sentence, before and after
Before: “In conclusion it could be said that the author’s main point is that the characters in the story are mostly not very good at communicating with each other.” After: “The author’s main point is that the characters fail to communicate.” We cut filler, repetition, and vagueness. Meaning stays; we just make it clear. That’s what we do across the draft.
Turnaround and pricing
Editing is priced per page (about 275 words). Shorter deadlines cost more. We often return within 24–48 hours for papers under 10 pages. The order form shows the total when you enter length and deadline. Revisions to the editing (if we missed an error or you want a different style choice) are free. See prices for the full table.
What we fix in standard vs heavy editing
Standard: grammar, spelling, punctuation, word choice, clarity. We don’t move paragraphs or rewrite big chunks. Use it when structure’s okay and you mainly want clean prose. Heavy: all of that plus paragraph order, transitions, tightening; we might suggest cutting or merging. Use it when the draft’s messy or too long. Tell us which when you order — or “not sure” and we’ll pick from your description. Really rough draft? We might suggest heavy so the result’s readable without losing your ideas.
How to prepare your draft for editing
Upload the full draft in Word or PDF. In the instructions say what you want: "fix grammar only," "improve flow and cut to 1500 words," "edit only the intro and conclusion." If there's a style you prefer (e.g. more formal, shorter sentences) mention it. If the teacher gave feedback (e.g. "develop the third paragraph") paste it. We don't need the assignment sheet unless you want us to check that the essay matches it — but it can help. The clearer your instructions the better we can match what you need.
Track Changes and feedback summary
You can ask for Track Changes (or "changes visible") in the instructions. We return a Word doc with edits marked so you can see what we changed and accept or reject. If you prefer a clean version with no markup we do that too. You can also ask for a short feedback summary: "what you changed and why." We'll add a note listing the main fixes (e.g. "tightened intro, fixed comma splices, reordered paragraph 3"). That helps if you want to learn from the edit or show your teacher you had help.
When editing isn’t enough
Wrong content — wrong argument, sources, or focus — editing can’t fix that. You need a full rewrite. Order write my essay or essay help and send the prompt; we’ll write from scratch. On topic but structure’s a mess? Heavy editing might still work — we reorganize and tighten. But if the teacher said “start over” or “different approach,” editing this draft won’t get you there. Unsure? Describe the situation in the instructions and we’ll say which service fits.
Revisions to the editing
If we missed an error or you disagree with a style choice (e.g. we changed a word you wanted to keep) request a revision. We don't charge for that. Describe what to change and we'll fix it. There's a time window (see our terms) so ask soon after you get the file. We don't re-edit the whole paper for free if you've rewritten parts — that would be a new order. But for corrections to our edit we're happy to fix.
FAQ about editing
Do you edit in Track Changes? You can ask for that in the instructions. We can return a Word doc with changes visible. Can you edit only part of my paper? Yes. Specify which sections (e.g. "edit only the intro and conclusion"). What if my draft is in bad shape? We still edit it. If it's so rough that heavy rewriting is needed, we may suggest heavy editing — we'll still work on your draft, not replace it with a new one unless you order a full essay.
Can you edit in British English? Yes. Say "British English" in the instructions and we'll follow UK spelling and conventions.
Do you fix citations? We fix obvious errors in citations (missing period, wrong comma). For full reformatting (e.g. switch entire paper from MLA to APA) that's a bigger job — say what you need and we'll do it or suggest a separate order.
What file format? We accept Word, PDF, and common formats. We usually return Word so you can use Track Changes if you asked for it.
How do I know if I need standard or heavy editing? If the draft reads okay but has grammar and word-choice issues, standard is enough. If paragraphs are messy, the order is wrong, or the draft is way over length, choose heavy. Or say "not sure" and describe the draft — we'll pick.
Editing for non-native speakers
We fix grammar and flow so the essay reads naturally in English. We don't change your ideas or your voice — we make the sentences clear and correct. If you have a preferred level of formality (e.g. more academic, less casual) say so. We keep your meaning; we improve the expression. Many of our editing orders are from students who write in a second language and want the draft to read at a native level before submission.
Editing for different document types
We edit essays, research papers, reports, personal statements, and dissertations chapters. The process is the same: you upload the draft, we fix grammar, style, and structure (to the level you chose). For very long documents (e.g. a full thesis) we may suggest splitting into sections or ordering in parts — contact us to discuss. For dissertations we typically edit chapter by chapter; we don't rewrite the whole thesis in one order. Same quality control: we don't change your thesis or your data unless you ask.
Final read after editing
When you get the edited draft back read it through. If we changed something you wanted to keep (e.g. a specific word) request a revision and we'll restore it. If you asked for Track Changes use it to accept or reject edits. If something still reads awkwardly or we missed an error tell us and we'll fix it. Your voice and your ideas stay; we've only cleaned and clarified.
Editing vs proofreading: which to choose
Proofreading fixes typos, grammar, and punctuation only. Editing does that plus style, word choice, and structure (paragraph order, transitions). If your draft is already clear and you just want a final check choose proofreading; it's cheaper per page. If the draft is rough or you want stronger flow choose editing. We can do both in one pass if you ask for "edit and proofread" — we'll do the full edit. See proofreading for the lighter option.
