Proofreading Services
Grammar, spelling, punctuation — we fix those. Your content stays; we just clean it. Fast turnaround, per-page pricing.
What we check
- Spelling and grammar
- Punctuation and capitalization
- Obvious typos and consistency (e.g. numbers, dates)
What we don’t change
We don’t rewrite your ideas or restructure the paper. We only fix errors. If you want style and structure improved, use our editing service instead. Both options are on the order form.
Proofreading vs editing
Proofreading = surface-level fixes only. For style and structure changes, use our editing service. Order type is on the order form.
Process and turnaround
Upload your file, choose “Proofreading,” and set your deadline. We return the corrected version by that time. Price is per page (275 words); see prices. For essays that still need to be written, use essay writing or write my essay.
When to choose proofreading instead of editing
Pick proofreading when content and structure are fine and you only want errors fixed. Spelling, grammar, punctuation, small consistency (dates, numbers). We don’t rewrite or move paragraphs. Want style and flow improved? That’s editing. Proofreading’s faster and cheaper because we’re not touching structure or style.
What we fix in proofreading
- Spelling and grammar (subject-verb agreement, tense, articles)
- Punctuation (commas, periods, apostrophes, quotation marks)
- Capitalization and basic consistency (e.g. "US" vs "U.S.")
- Obvious typos and repeated words
We don’t fact-check or add content. We only change wording when it’s grammatically wrong. Your voice stays.
Errors we catch most often
Subject-verb agreement ("the data shows" vs "the data show" — we follow your style or the assignment), comma splices, apostrophes in plurals, mixed tenses in the same paragraph, and citation punctuation (missing period after the year, comma in the wrong place). We don't rewrite — we fix. If we're unsure (e.g. British vs American spelling), we keep it consistent with the rest of the paper or follow your instructions.
Process and turnaround
Upload your file on the order form, select "Proofreading," and set the deadline. We return the corrected file by then. Turnaround is often 24 hours or less for standard lengths. Revisions (if we missed an error) are free. Need a full essay? Use essay writing or write my essay.
How to prepare your file for proofreading
Upload the full document in Word or PDF. In the instructions say "proofreading only" so we don't change structure or style. If you want British English or a specific style (e.g. APA for citations) mention it. We don't need the assignment sheet unless you want us to check something specific. The cleaner your draft the faster we return it — but we proofread rough drafts too. We only fix errors; we don't rewrite.
When proofreading isn’t enough
Awkward sentences, paragraphs out of order, unclear argument — proofreading won’t fix that. You need editing. Proofreading assumes content and structure are fine; we only clean the surface. Not sure? Say so: “Not sure if I need proofreading or editing — grammar’s weak and some paragraphs are long.” We’ll pick the right level or suggest both (e.g. edit first, then proofread).
Turnaround and pricing
Proofreading is priced per page (about 275 words). Shorter deadlines cost more. We often return within 24 hours for standard lengths. The order form shows the total when you enter length and deadline. Revisions (if we missed an error) are free. See prices for the full table. Proofreading’s usually cheaper than editing because we’re not changing structure or style.
Revisions to the proofreading
If we missed a typo or you disagree with a fix (e.g. we "corrected" something you meant to keep) request a revision. We don't charge for that. Describe what to change and we'll fix it. There's a time window (see our terms) so ask soon after you get the file. We don't re-proofread the whole document for free if you've rewritten parts — that would be a new order.
FAQ about proofreading
Can you proofread in British English? Yes. Say "British English" in the instructions. Do you fix citation format? We fix obvious errors in citations (e.g. missing period, wrong comma). For full citation formatting (APA, MLA), that's closer to editing — say what you need. What file format? We accept Word, PDF, and common formats. We usually return Word so you can see the clean version.
Can you proofread only part of my paper? Yes. Specify which sections (e.g. "proofread only the first three pages"). Do you use Track Changes? You can ask for that in the instructions. We can return a Word doc with changes visible.
Proofreading for non-native speakers
We fix grammar, articles, tense, and word choice so the text reads naturally in English. We don't change your meaning. Many of our proofreading orders are from students who write in a second language and want the draft to read at a native level before submission. We only fix errors; we don't rewrite ideas. For heavier language work choose editing instead.
What we don't do in proofreading
We don't fact-check. We don't add content or suggest new arguments. We don't restructure paragraphs. We fix spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic consistency. If you need more we'll suggest editing or a combined service.
Final check after proofreading
When you get the file back skim through. If we "corrected" something you meant to keep request a revision and we'll restore it. If we missed an error tell us and we'll fix it. Your content stays; we've only cleaned the surface.
From order to delivery
You go to order now, select Proofreading, and upload your file. Add the deadline and any instructions (e.g. "British English," "proofread only pages 1–5"). We show the price (per page of your draft). You pay. We assign a proofreader. They fix errors only; they don't change structure or style. You get the file back by the deadline. Revisions are free when we missed an error. Same account as for essay writing and editing. If you're not sure whether you need proofreading or editing describe your draft in the instructions and we'll pick.
Summary
Proofreading: spelling, grammar, punctuation, basic consistency. We don't rewrite or restructure. Price per page; shorter deadlines cost more. We often return within 24 hours. Revisions free when we missed something. Ready? Order proofreading or check prices.
Proofreading vs editing: when to choose which
Proofreading fixes surface errors only: typos, grammar, punctuation, basic consistency (e.g. "US" vs "U.S." throughout). Editing does that plus style, word choice, and structure — we tighten sentences, improve flow, and sometimes reorganise paragraphs. If your draft is already clear and you just want a final check before submission choose proofreading; it's cheaper per page. If the draft is rough, sentences are awkward, or paragraphs are out of order choose editing. If you're not sure describe your draft in the instructions: "Grammar is weak and some paragraphs are long" — we'll suggest proofreading or editing. We can also do both: edit first, then proofread, or you order editing and we do a full pass. See editing for the heavier option.
File formats and what you get back
We accept Word, PDF, and common formats. We usually return Word so you can see the clean version or use Track Changes if you asked for it. If you need a different format say so in the instructions. We don't change your file format unless you ask — we fix the content and return it in the same format or Word. For very long documents (e.g. a full thesis) we may suggest splitting by chapter; contact us to discuss. Same revision policy: if we missed an error we fix it at no extra charge. There's a time window (see our terms) so ask soon after you get the file.
Pricing recap
Proofreading is priced per page (about 275 words per page). The order form shows the total when you enter the length of your draft and the deadline. Shorter deadlines cost more per page. We often return within 24 hours for standard lengths. No hidden fees. Revisions are free when we missed an error. See prices for the full table. Need a full essay instead? See write my essay and essay help.
What we don't do
We don't fact-check or verify your sources. We don't add new content or suggest new arguments. We don't restructure your paper or rewrite paragraphs. We fix spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic consistency. If you need more we'll suggest editing. Your content and your voice stay; we've only cleaned the surface. If we "corrected" something you meant to keep (e.g. a technical term or a deliberate style choice) request a revision and we'll restore it. Same account and revision policy as for writing and editing orders. Ready? Order proofreading or check prices. Your draft stays yours; we only fix errors and return the file by the deadline.
